The paper deals with the hydrodynamic processes in liquids. Electromagnetic shock wave generator formed as a sphere segment was used in the preliminary experiments. It was shown experimentally that the first luminescence flash correlates with the cavitation breakdown in a liquid. However, the pressure pulse width of electromagnetic generator is restricted from below by coil inductance so that amplitude falls down when radiator's form is closer to a hemisphere. The non-inductive method of generation and focusing of shock acoustic waves with the multispark discharge in electrolyte are presented. This method can be used for forming acoustic shock waves with shorter duration of the acoustic pulse in comparison with an electromagnetic generator acoustic pulse. A generators formed as a cylinder and a segment of a sphere are investigated experimentally. The proposed emitter is very adaptable for control of geometric parameters of emitted waves. It is favourable for expanding the fields of their application. This technique can be applied to the research of energy cumulation, sonoluminescence, medicine, underwater acoustics and chemical engineering.
