Horizontal wells are currently the most extensively discussed topic in the oil industry. Horizontal wells are known to be efficient when developing productive reservoirs featuring an intensive formation of gas and water cones, offshore oil and gas fields, etc. The existing mathematical models of the horizontal well operation have been primarily developed for the stationary influx of fluids from the formation. Of great interest, however, are non-stationary filtration processes. Mathematical models for this case are yet to be developed.
