Effective Prediction of Multicomponent Gas/Liquid Flow in Petroleum Reservoirs

A two-step procedure is developed for solving 1D problems of multicomponent two-phase flow generic for gas injection EOR processes. General framework is presented briefly, and its realization is illustrated for the cases of gas-oil mixtures with constant partition coefficients and systems with more general phase behavior. The examples are presented for 4- and 5-component mixtures with constant partition coefficients and for oil displacement by carbon dioxide injection. Directions of future research are discussed as well.
